vacation lobotomy.

In theory, I am organized.
On paper, I am responsible.
In my head, I am efficient.
In my dreams, I am a rock star in sequin leggings.

But here i am, so discombobulated it's ridiculous.

In Mexico...we ate nachos until we started to sweat liquid cheese. We bronzed our bodies (only I freckled mine even despite my OCD like sunscreen reapplication) i watched a pack of dogs invade the beach mere minutes after i left it = severe panic attack avoided (friggin' mexico) We floated down lazy rivers and slid down water slides, and only once did a kid tell me (as my inner tube began to capsize under my nacho engorged body) "lady, you're so big for this." We had fun making family MEMORIES for heavens sakes!!

And now i am in my usual home-from-vacation coma. Is vacation worth the inevitable tilting off my axis? (...that's what she said?) My baby can't poop and woke me up at 4 this morning to scream in my face about it (vacation poo syndrome knows no boundaries), my fridge is empty, my house is crazy, i have a halloween party and baby shower to plan in like five seconds and i am desperately craving a run. Heeeeelppppmeeeeee.

(woe is the poor housewife back from her week long trip...Yes, you can punch me in the face now) So, are vacations refreshing, or just a new layer to my crazy? I can't decide.
I think I'll play hookie today.

M.I.A (gunshots included)

Hey guess what, I'm alive!
Did you wonder why i abandoned you?
Were you worried that I got in a terrible accident?
Were you cold and afraid?
Or should i get over myself and just write a stupid post already?

but first you want to hear something ironic?
whenever i shut my face (my blog face)...i gain readers.
what does that tell me?
nothing.
it's completely confusing. and i should be insulted.
I won't though cause it takes a lot to offend me.
seriously. I think it's because i just give the universe so much ammo to use against me.
For instance...I am sitting at the table, in my trusty cutoff ACDC shirt, with one engorged boob, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids playing in the background...at 11:00am...on a Thursday. (insider tip that makes this even more pathetic: last night when i was sleeping and my milk started to leak, i changed out of said ACDC shirt so i wouldn't get milk rings on it, then put it back on in the morning)

ANYway. I am in mexico.
pretending like the internet doesn't work (it totally does)
eating delicious mangoes with chili flakes
letting my kids risk getting lice to have their hair braided on the beach
and reapplying sunscreen like its nobody's business.
(i am terrified of the sun...and the ocean. Wait, why am i here?)
Oh ya, cause im not in AZ
and that's the only reason i need.

...and the reason i haven't been posting.
sorry charlies. Arriba!

your FACE is a science experiment.

The Exploratorium is definitely one of my favorite places as a kid. It is a must see if you are in San Fran. It was so inspiring! Optical illusions, floating in mirrors, bacteria artwork, drinking fountains made out of toilet seats...and you thought i didn't experiment ;)

I want my two dollars

While Disneyland upholds it's title as the happiest place on earth...Legoland may seriously be the lamest place on earth. You know it's bad when your 4 year old is excited to go to the car after one hour.
(Although Sheamus is kind of a hermit. All he wanted to do half way through Disneyland even was "go back to the 'bedroom' because isn't it bedtime?"....no sweetie it's only 4 o'clock ;)

happy trails.

{This is us passing what was quite possibly the stinkiest highway on the planet}
Some things we've discovered on our trip: -Adam and I have super opposite tastes in music. Well actually we already knew this quite well. But for reconfirmation, I listened to his euro top 40 from 2007 about 27 times before I played one run through of Vampire weekend. Our conversaysh went something like this: (Adam) "are we almost done listening to the crappiest music of all time" ...(me) "yes we finished about 45 minutes ago"...(Adam) "no this. it's like that lame song Chevy Chase dances to" ...He meant Paul Simon. I meant to slap him in the mouth. He's lucky he was driving. -we are the SLOWEST travelers. We can take any 12 hour car ride and turn it into an 18 hour car ride. I mostly blame Adam as he takes twice as long as any woman to leave anywhere. In his defense, im pretty sure he just started his period. It works for us though, we are chillaxers by nature, so we still manage to love eachother the whole way. -my kids lose respect for me once the engine is on. Once when they were messing around and kicking the radio controls in the back. After 17 warnings to shut their faces, I reach to smack at their feet. They start hysterically laughing at me, and I can't help but laugh at my spazzy Joan Crawford moment. -Adam likes to rub it in when he poops 14+ inch dukes, even after I haven't gone in like 4 days. I tell him that's a cruel and equally weird thing to brag about. He stands by his accomplishment. -my kids are definitely retarded at plugging their noses (see above) -road trips turn us all into filthy animals We are on the road yet again (Disneyland here we come) the baby is screaming and we are pulling over for the bajillionth time for me to nurse him... ...we are in road trip heaven :) happy trails friends.

June in Arizona can suck it.

We are taking a litte AZ hiatus. Not even a week in to our vacay, and not a dull moment. Hopefully I can capture some of it for a summer video?? Im already kicking myself for the things i havent filmed (ryder being carried away on a stretcher, our cabins flooding in yosemite...I think it's because I resent my janky camera. eheghm, Adam) Stay tuned....

sister christian

This week team Boo made the 17 hour trek (factoring in the extra 5 hours in the car for blizzard delays ;) to park city,UT This photo depicts my very sweet and eager Elyott before riding to the top of the hill only to have her teeny 41 pond body catapulted off her tube at the first bump in the track. In retrospect there is nothing sadder than seeing a little kid get their glasses knocked off...and that is why I am grateful my tube was going too fast down the hill so she couldn't hear me accidentally still laughing. Maybe it was the "Utah" (aka. "The Uterus" ) confusing my maternal instincts?? Whatevs, when all was said and done no children were phisically (or emotionally) scarred during the whole tubing experience ;) Cross your fingers the drive home will welcome bluer skies!!! Back to the AZ (aka "the armpit") grind....
**UPDATE: the ride home involved sitting next to a dirty dog in the back seat, my 12 year old brother with a cold and both my kids barfing and diarrhea-ing the whole way home. But I guess it always could have been worse (no it couldn't).
....ahh making memories.

G is for grandparents....

...to whom this post is dedicated.

its just a bunch of family yaddie yaddie yadda
But, its what gives the grandma's and grandpa's battery power.

It was SOOO nice to visit the cabin!
In true Sheamus fashion, when daddy told Sheamus to go pee right after we arrived...
he stepped one foot out the door and peed on the deck.
And it was already cold enough that
it was still slightly frozen when we woke up in the morning ;)

{G is also for groundhogs day, cause i'm pretty sure i've told this nerdy story before}

Thanks Jeanine and Spencer for creating such an awesome place for the family to get away :)
we miss you!!

more mexican memories...

Adam bought this shirt for halloween last year....when I told him i hated it, he cut off the sleeves and started wearing it as an even sicker beach shirt.
What we learned in Mexico...
1. don't let your kids do flour relay races when they have braids in their hair (water plus four equals glue in your scalp)
2. try not to get hurt in mexico or you will end up in an doctors home office with a mystery shot in your arm and your genitals feeling like they're on fire.
3. pregnancy skin sensitivity will still allow blotchy sun damage through 50 spf on my forehead.
4. there is nothing that will stop the scrappy mexican birds from shanking food practically right out of your mouth.
5. there is endless privacy for Matthew McConaughey style "beach time"
6. Sheamus has the most awesome perma mad scientist beach hair ever.
7. there is no better way to ensure quality family time than on a remote resort on a stretch of mexican coast....ARRIBA!!

Mexico is the new black.

We back. And right up front...my apologies to our friends who were subject to my embarrassingly too small bathing suits all week. ...all week where I horizontally sipped mango smoothies, and ate poolside nachos...tucked away on a private beach with not one pregnant dog or drug lord in sight. who knew? thanks for your prayers ;)
(more pictures to come...)
presenting...our vacay soundtrack:
-Jay z (forever young remix) about 73 times in a row the 4 hours there and back (thanks to husband liking the repeat button as much as the children do.)
-The resorts mexican dance song of the year at least thrice daily "follow tha leada, leada, leada...follow tha leada, woot woot!"
-and Sheamus's rendition of Bon Jovi's "Shot Through the Heart" as follows...."shock to da heart and you're too lame, God give it alooooone a BAND-AID"

team foo.

what is special to me about this photo is that
...it is my very last with the cutoffs .
we had a long run.
 and i mean long.
and what you can't see here is my very exposed left butt cheek.
somehow the fact that i was wearing a bathing suit underneath is what made it seem okay
...why is that anyway?

So even though i am happy in this picture
my legs will never be the same.
(R.I.P. never-nudes)

yay independence!

my "project boo"

Don't lose motivation for project boo!
...the contest is alive and well.
It's totally not too late!
Granted, i am fairly familiar with imovieHD,  I made this one yesterday in about six hours??
{Which includes upload time, feeding my kids twice, tidying my kitchen,
and a solid game of both Twister and Candy Land.}
You can do it!!
SO...without further ado,
 {from our recent trip to California}
here is my summer video:
by
{*FYI: all my footage was captured with a regular camera's video setting. If you're working with a PC, check out your "Movie Maker" application? or go here }
ALSO: If you are on the verge of punching your computer and/or yourself in the face, just email me so we can figure it out together, and spare that beautiful mug of yours. I will be posting your videos intermittently until the end of the contest {july31} so watch for yours!...be a gem, spread the word yo.

next time i'll try reverse psychology...or a Taser?

The best thing about beach towns are the vibrant colors...i was in heaven!
These pictures are too funny to me cause i was all "bid-ness" just trying to get my kids to stand together, while they did everything but cooperate...it was a much needed reminder for me as to how UN-serious life should be ;)

6.23.2009

To NorCal with love...

we. are. BACK.
we had tons of fun.
but, as we all know, the worst part of vacation is returning home...
-kids who are demanding full time entertainment
-laundry
-cranky mom
-laundry
-kids making more messes faster than i can clean them
-laundry
-no food in the house = again, cranky mom
{even the gym was closed!! what the heck??}

Sheamus accused me of being a "serious monster mom"...but i have justified this title due to the fact that traveling constipation aka: "vacation poo syndrome" has caused him {who claims we have "no toilets"} to poop a weeks worth of burritos and sandy chips into his underwear just this morning. This has turned my already explosion of a house into a disgusting buttercupped explosion of a house. And i am ready to blow myself to the moon.

So while i gather my sanity....here is a photo montage of our adventures ;)

6.18.2009

easy breezy.

do you miss us??
{pretend you do}

we are alive!
 in the adorable Capitola, CA.

....where the hippie population is crazy awesome, and {on the same token} peeps don't care if your not wearing pants ;)

* i am LOVING your Project BOO videos.  Keep em comin'!!

9.01.2008

delish!

10 yummy reasons i love weekend getaways...

1. "FRENCHY TOAST" (Hopkinson's recipe=killer breakfast)

2. "naked baby" campfires

3. Oreo smores
4. playground equipment that doesn't burn your skin :)
5. RAINY days!!!

6. not wearing makeup (thank you Enormous glasses)

7. sweet Ava (minus car ride :) Plus the one toothed girl that launched her in swing (and Deb's near heart attack)

8. game nights w/ great friends (and Jason's thick skin ;)

9. buggie snuggles

10. family time!!!

8.04.2008

baby got baaaaaack.

I know you all have just been dying for a new post (and by "you all" I mean the random person that stumbles upon my site after a botched google search)...and myself of course.  I hope you guys don't read this blog and imagine: "hmm, this girl is alright"...cause someday you might meet me and be like, "wait what? you're the teamBoo from the 'interweb'"  And then be all: "she's kinda lame, what's up with those jean shorts anyway?"  Don't say i didn't warn you.

I just have so much randomness in my head.  It usually manifests itself in song, but even my two year old is tired of that, and my Rummikub opponents...you know who you are (please like me still :)  So just tell me if its too much....just kidding i don't care.

"Where did you go?"(you're wondering) A better question: Where didn't i go!? heh.  well, actually just to california.

to eat corn dogs with this guy....

Bob Loblaw

Discretion is has never really been my "thing".  And therefore, in an effort to spare you yet another barf-o-riffic red white and blue themed post, i will give you just a few sweet, and sometimes inappropriate, highlights of our trip to Pismo Beach last week.  What am i proud of? (you ask). We'll if you insist...

1. The plentiful convenience food we whole heartedly consume....
...as i watched my kids eat their weight in cheetos on the drive there.
...also me pounding an entire package of about 15 chips ahoy cookies, dispite its contents tasting exactly like envelope glue.

2. Freedom of speech...
-my family's very candid conversations about"after-birth"
-most importantly, my mom's casual inquiry as to the size of my brother-in-law's junk.
-me: "hey sweetie did you have an accident?" elyott: "well... just a tiny bit." (Riiiiiight.)

3. Rummikub and Flight of the Conchords marathon week, and my delirious step dad's near laughing heart attack during episode 4...(poor grandpa needs a nappy).

4. The anthem of our weekend...
-Elyott's repeat requests of Enrique Iglesias "Ping Pong Song" (yes it is as awesome as it sounds) adding "this is how daddy feels about you mom." Awwwww...wait, what?
-both kids robot dancing to freezepops "bike thief": they really know how to make a mamma proud.
5.   That good ole' American spirit...
-the crazies yelling at us for sitting on grass in front of "their hotel room territory" to watch the fireworks.  The most annoying part: their matching Old Navy american flag t-shirts.
-10 minutes later some fast talking chola ready to throw down with another group of fireworks spectators.  Ironically screaming "I am a good F*%$#*@ mom you piece of bleeping beep," with her 2 year old on her hip (picture the classic pointed "attitude finger" all up and down). Happy 4th of july fellow Americans!

On the way up to Hearst castle
(rare photos of Sheamus without his blasted "bink")
