stuck in the moment.

two unprovoked moments:

It seems these days (in our home) that unless a topic of conversation starts with a J and ends with an "ustin Bieber" it doesn't hold up. I have done my best to spare you the posts about the loooong (10 minute) car rides with the ipod on Biebs repeat...or the tiny place in my heart that he has branded his initials with his stupid tiny heart shaped pitch fork. It's not that things haven't been eventful, I just haven't made the time to carve recent memories into stone (the internet counts as "stone" right?...I had a Taiwanese neighbor named Stone a few years ago, and he was legit as the chicken neck bones that floated in the soup his wife often made for us, bless her heart). 

Okay so there may be other reasons for the blogging silence. Getting back to the gym regularly (twice counts?) Reading books that don't have pictures. A clingy teething baby (that still will not put even one ounce of food to his own mouth so that i have to hand feed every morsel into his 5th percentile bones) Not to mention Adam being back in full time school (stealing my laptop on a regular basis)...it reminds me of one of my favorite Jack handy quotes: 

"To me, it's always a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, 'Hey, can you give me a hand?' you can say, 'Sorry, got these sacks.'" 

In other words, when people ask me when i'm gonna blog again, i just shrug my shoulders and say "sorry....got these sacks." Thats when it gets really awkward. Trust me, when i say Jack Handy quotes don't translate well in a literal sense. Still, it's more effective than trying to explain to a group of my very dubious and very non 12 year old friends that the Never Say Never movie was "actually really endearing"

So now you see that this period of silence was really a favor to your brains. I will probably lose 10 followers because of this lame post (those cold hearted snakes with their high reading standards and their "better things to do"). And if you are looking for a reason to blame this potential downward spiral of mine (ie. i actually ate a reheated baggie of Sonny's scrambled eggs today...for dinner!) i am quite confident it can be traced back to that sneaky pouty faced angel we all know...and sing along to. Curse you Justin "Beaver"! Somehow i want to see more you and then none of you. forever.

My computer has owned me this week.

i have been eating out of its stupid plastic hand. But i've finally finished and uploaded my valentine project for my dear sweet husband...and its not even March! Take that old farty computer (just kidding apple i still love you)

*thanks to those who sent in your kids love quotes. It was fun reading them (and i wish there was space to include them all!) Thanks to the moms of Jack, Travis, Sadie, Adrian, Quinn and Gibson for letting me include their adorable thoughts on love with you here :) kids are so silly.

Elyott ducked into a neighbors house last week on an emergency potty run. And theeeeeen she came out with this.

And what kind of mother would i be if i deprived my child a free 4 foot hot pink super static-y gorilla?? 
(answer: the kind who wished she had just let her kid pee her pants)

you see, it all worked out in the end. Ty's mom got rid of the giant gorilla from her house, and then we hit her kid (in the blue shirt) in the face with a giant rubber ball :)

(another bonus: after posting this video we'll probably never get asked to babysit for the rest of our lives!!!)

a little sonny delight...

Today i practiced using iMovie '11. I am SO behind in my movie making cause my iMac has been all wonky. Now i am up and running with the newest software, and I am certain we are gonna be friends...(iMovie 11 and me) Hooray for technology!!


p.s. please excuse the poorly formed sentences. I didn't check until after i uploaded to vimeo and am too impatient to go back and change it (we are still just acquaintances you see)

As excruciating as it is to see my facial expressions on camera (although the quality here is ridiculously terrible), it still makes me laugh to watch this. Adam used to always do this to me when we were dating when i got mad about something, and it would always make me laugh (he knows better than to do this to me after 10 years together ;) But he still does it to the kids every now and then...they think its funnoying (funny and mostly annoying) but that's what parents are for, right?

The last dandelion.

Sheamus is such a face melter. And he really doesn't even try. He has no ulterior motives, and is so very thoughtful...he's kinda like a Winnie the Pooh movie personified. For example, yesterday we went to the park to take our minds off a particularly serious "brain injury" of his. After his brain "healed", he played a little in the grass and a few minutes later brought me what he described as the "last dandelion of the season." It was sweet enough in itself to offer to me, but then before we blew it out together, he wished for "mom for a new camera"...and that's when the total face meltdown was complete. (This can only be something he has overheard and remembered how much i long for) Where did this kid come from?

when funny trumps sanitary

We are taking care of my parents dog for a little while.

Now, I'm not really an animal person, but it's been ideal because he's pretty mellow and already fully trained. Which is good cause dogs that chew up poopy diapers and stuff really make me want to abuse things. Typically i keep Sonny and doggie pretty separate cause I don't really trust dogs (also dogs lick their privates and my baby is clean and i kiss his face with my own mouth) but you know me, I can't resist a genuine defenseless babies moment...

worth it.
I'm pretty sure i would have fully thrown up.

Don't fret, i sprayed Sonny down with the hose afterward ;)

Today while i left to run some errands, Adam kept Sonny home with him. Much to my delight, he was feeling a little sassy and surprised me with a video he made just to make me smile. I loved it so much I decided to share it with you (even though he says he looks "pale and dead"). It may not be as amusing to you if you are not familiar with his personality. So at the very minimum you should know...a.) he's cute b.) he's funny c.) he's tall
(by the way, he would completely disapprove of me saying anything he did was "sassy")

{i just realized that my first banner read slightly like "project POO"...oops. 

And since it didn't apply to any film making that would interest ME, i had to change it. But thematically speaking, it did rather suit the content of my life}

It's not about who is the biggest art snob, but it IS about making a movie creation you can be proud of! Like sweet Cara, who linked her little movie to me last week. simple and sweet! 

SO.....just make a short summer video and sent it to me by JULY 31st labeled "Project Boo" {csdike@yahoo.com}...then i can post it here! I'll even help you if you have a little question or two :) Maybe there will even be a sweet prize at the end for my fave??...that's assuming anyone sends me any. Who knows, it might be suuuuper easy to win. But don't get too carried away with what the prize might be cause...well, i'm eating chocolate pudding for LUNCH....thats how i roll ;)

One of my plans this summer is to make a short movie clip. i found this video a couple weeks ago through this sweet commenter. I can appreciate the playful {and kinda dorky} approach...also the uninhibited profile shots....although I can't lie, the sound effects kind of weird me out. Either way i like myself a little homemade movie.....err, not that kind sickos, this kind:
